Jaguar XKR S
Jaguar may be celebrating 50 years of its iconic E-Type at this week’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show but that hasn’t stopped the automaker from rolling out a very special version of its equally stunning XKR. Of course, we’re talking about the new 2012 Jaguar XKR-S, which has been billed as the "most potent series production" Jaguar ever.
That’s a big call but understandable when you consider the car’s 542 horsepower supercharged V-8 engine, which is capable of propelling the big cat from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and see it reach a top speed of 186 mph.
Enjoy the live photos of the car in our gallery above and look out for the new 2012 Jaguar XKR-S in showrooms later this year. For our complete coverage of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
The XKR-S is one of Jaguar’s bold and exciting ventures as per their Global Brand director, Adrian Hallmark. The model would also however appeal to those who are looking for comfort, opulence and class, as well as the inspirational performance which is a fine mix of the best that car lovers the world over want. Something that can only be found in a Jaguar.
Engine
Type: Supercharged AJ-V8,Gen III direct-injection, Displacement 5.0 liters, Horsepower 510 bhp SAE, Torque 625 Nm (461 ft-lb.)
Jaguar has just released the pricing for the new XKR-S: $132,000, that is $36,000 more than the ’standard’ XK-R. It sounds like a lot for only 40 HP more, but if you pay close attention to details, it is worth every penny. The seats, the leather stitching, the body kit. Adding all those using aftermarket parts would cost you same or more and it would only be a pile of mod, while the XKR-S is a factory collectible.
