The 2011 BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is a sports activity coupe that delivers distinctive and aerodynamic finesse. Equipped with 20-inch wheels made of a light metal alloy, the car and its styling have been streamlined in order to minimize air resistance and lower fuel consumption.


Other features include an easy access system which recognizes the car key of the driver that enables the car door handle to be opened once the driver comes in contact with it. Lighting around the handle remains automatically lit for 20 seconds, allowing a safe entry to the vehicle. A single button both starts and stops the vehicle. Special black frames around the side windows and interior door trim enhance the appearance of the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 and make it the elegantly sporting vehicle that it is.

The engine in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 is a turbocharged V8 with two twin scroll turbochargers that produce a maximum of 480 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque. Two electric motors are concealed in the active mode transmission and provide the needed torque to achieve additional acceleration. They can also serve as generators to convert movement into electrical energy at 84 horsepower or charge the battery.

The motors can also power the vehicle at speeds of up 40 miles per hour. The active mode transmission runs as a seven-speed automatic transmission and provides two modes of operation. One mode can be used for lower speeds using high torque and the other for travelling at faster speeds with higher efficiency. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6 averages 23 miles per gallon.
